A blue water ministry

Superintendent

Matthew L. Brown

Biographical Synopsis of Superintendent Matthew L. Brown

Pastor Matthew L. Brown’s many years of experience as a key aid to the Mayor of the City of Buffalo, has served him well in developing a comprehensive vision that addresses the diverse needs of the people he is committed to serving. He transitioned from the city’s administration to devote his full attention to his local church ministry and national ministry obligations. He has diligently served the City of Buffalo for twelve years in a variety of capacities including: Special Assistant to the Mayor, Commissioner of General Services, Director of Intergovernmental Relations and Director of Communications for the Mayor’s office. Moreover, the administration appointed Brown as the Vice President of the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation (BERC). In that capacity, he was instrumental in the administration of community development initiatives, to assist economically distressed neighborhoods in the city of Buffalo.

Brown began his tenure as pastor of Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C. in 1996. He has been successful in establishing the ministry as a beacon of hope to countless individuals and families served by the organization. He aggressively challenges the notion that church exists simply for the proliferation of the local assembly, but rather views the church as the change agent; pointing the way to purpose, peace and prosperity for the community it serves.

Pastor Brown has proven his exceptional skills as a leader through the implementation and administration of strategic ministry and community initiatives. As an outgrowth of his commitment to investing in the community and the lives of its residents, he has established the Temple Community Development Corporation (TCDC). Through the TCDC, he consistently spearheads community events that serve the underserved and contribute to the development of the infrastructure of a healthy and stable community environment.

Brown, the consummate educator, has successfully established the Pentecostal Temple Bible Institute (PTBI). PTBI is an extension of Logos Christian College and Graduate Schools in Jacksonville, Florida. Pastor Brown is completing his degree at Trinity Bible College and Seminary in addition to doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Episcopal Studies on the campus of Harvard University.

In addition to his numerous responsibilities as pastor of Pentecostal Temple, Brown also serves as the Superintendent of the Trinity District, in the Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Western New York. Under his leadership, the Trinity District is a model for effective ministry in this region and throughout the country. His platform for leadership and service to God’s people extends far beyond his locale, into the national arena. He served as the Assistant Chief Operations Officer, and Special Assistant to Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake and former National Vice- Chairman of the Constitutional Convention of the Church of God in Christ and as a conference presenter for the National Leadership Conference held annually. Brown completed the Summer Leadership Institute at Harvard School of Divinity; a cutting-edge training program for clergy and leaders from across the country, who are involved in faith-based community and economic development.  He recently was selected and appointed to the Board of Directors of Kaleida, Western New York’s largest health care system. Superintendent Brown is providing leadership in the civic, social, secular and sacred arena’s of Western New York.

Throughout his years of service to the church, the city and the community; Pastor Brown has solidified his reputation as an anointed teaching priest, an exceptional administrator and a gifted motivational speaker.

PASTOR'S PEN

Summertime is Family Time!

Summer is here and its time to enjoy the outdoors and spend significant time with your family.  Our opportunity to enjoy relaxing afternoons, extended weekends and vacation is upon us.  Don’t discount the value of “doing nothing” and “being with your family”.  We’ve enjoyed wonderful ministry and social initiatives from our core ministries and expect to continue and strengthen fellowship over the next several months as we accelerate our summer schedule.  Our “destination Fridays” will convene as the ministry leadership plans for specific time of fellowship; otherwise our Friday’s are free to enjoy the region, the water, the backyard and our families.

Father’s Day will be celebrated this month and it is my sincere desire that mom’s will be as vigilant to make the day special for dads who are deserving of such honor.  Fatherhood is an awesome responsibility and cannot be underestimated in the life of a child; nonetheless, it is a thankless job that can only be confirmed by a man’s wife and or children.  Please honor our dads who are worthy of honor and demonstrate an authentic appreciation for their presence and commitment to their children.

Our summer schedule begins this week!

8:00 am and 10:00 am services will be held until the first Sunday in September.  We encourage you to “be evangelistic” and use this schedule as an opportunity to bring people to Jesus.  Our desire to “break 500”  and “hit the bulls eye” while increasing the “quality of blue water” remains our ministry goals this year.  Consider strengthening your faith through the word of God and being bold to invite people into a relationship with Jesus.  Soul business is our business!
